Miss Indian International 2012 - Official Release

Miss Indian International 2012 Pageant – Press Release

Beauty pageants or beauty contests are generally multi-tiered, with local competitions feeding into the larger competitions where ladies from around the world participate each year in local competitions for the chance to represent their country's international title.   confer

Miss Indian International is the creation and contribution to pageants by Sashi Maala who has had 21 years of experience in organizing, directing and choreographing pageants at local and international levels. Miss Indian International is set to lead a new generation of pageants that will take the less conventional route. The contestants are of Indian Origin without having to represent their country, be permanent resident or citizen of the country in which they participate. In April 2012, the search to find its most beautiful Indian lady will be unprecedented in the history of beauty pageants. For the first time, ladies of Indian origin, from any part of the globe will compete on a stage, at its inaugural pageant, in Singapore, to win Miss Indian International 2012 title. She will also walk away with SGD$10,000 in cash and prizes, including an opportunity to audition for a Movie in India.

Miss Indian International is not based on looks alone; the focus is not only about being beautiful but engaging the community at large. Contestants are expected to serve as "Ambassadors of Peace, Beauty and Friendship", showing individuality, tenderness, benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and, most importantly, a great international sensibility. The ultimate goal of Miss Indian International pageant is to promote peace, goodwill, environmental awareness and social cohesion within the “Greater Indian Community”. This approach will give all contestants a sense of accomplishment, where each accepts the customs and cultural heritage of all other contestants. Miss Indian International offers a great opportunity for Indian ladies to compete with each other, regardless of their Indian ethnicity, country of residence, permanent residence or birth. Therefore, it will serve the larger call for people to socially integrate, meet and make new friends whilst promoting the commonality which bond Indians together.

Miss Indian International is also aiming to adjust the way pageants are traditionally scored. In addition to judge’s scores, the online and people’s choice votes will be taking into account in selecting the winner. This is in the hope of eliminating the myth that is traditionally associated with beauty pageants where the selection criteria set by organizers or a winner is handpicked by a panel of judges who could be prejudicial or bias.
