Miss Indian International 2012 - The Dream
Miss Indian International 2012 - 14 Dec 2011 Professional Photo & Video Shoot
Final Official Video Entitled "The Dream"
Flying High @ Singapore Flyer
On Flight To Fame - Boeing 737
One of the many attractions of this pageant is an unique opportunity to fly to India for a Movie Audition. Little did our lovely ladies realize we will bring them on board a Boeing 737, for a quick preview of its instrument panels, distinctive features and professional photo opportunity. There was consistent evidence that they were all surprised. Why shouldn't they be, the experience was, after all, novel to them. The authentic smiles and positive facial expressions, including flushed cheeks, gave it all away. Never did they imagine they would be in a cockpit of one of the best commercial jetliner ever built. They went about posing for the camera as if in a dream. It was an absolute surprise as they would have never thought of starting their journey in such a glorious fashion, when they signed up to participate in Miss Indian International 2012. Definitely not at such a preliminary stage of the competition. We wanted to give them the right start to gain the exposure they need.
With a series of pageant videos and photos going public, the responses have been simply astounding. Some ladies are already attracting a great deal of interest by posting and sharing these videos and photos at every opportunity they get. Their social media activities are encouraging. Some have discrete secrets on sharing them with friends, family, relatives and public at large. Others are hard at work to ensure their photos and videos go viral among their circle to gain maximum exposure. They like, share and comment on every photo, video and post with many encouraging their supporters to do nothing less. There is no doubt in the mind of every contestant that she needs votes to achieve her dream of being crowned "Miss Indian International 2012". With some of the contestants social media activities set ablaze, the heat is on. The realization in ensuring each contestant ceases every single opportunity to share every photo and video to anyone who could support in fulfilling her dream to be in the top spot, is taking form. There may be variations in their approach, but they all seem to agree that the sooner their "strategy" is in place, and at work, the more time they will have for preparation as the competition draws closer. The organisers have spaced the pageant out all too well to give each contestant a fair chance. These contestants have realized they have a head-start. Are they going to take complete advantage of it? If they do, they will lay the groundwork only for future success. A success that can be attributed to early preparation and well executed plan, including one that involves social media.
With another batch of contestants joining the competition soon, there will be more to do, to perfect the crowning touch. However, like in most, no matter how the hard competition is going to be, it can be made easy if one prepares for it. Those who are hard at garnering support have already realised this. Nevertheless, we are very proud that all the ladies seem to possess a positive disposition along with the right attitude and aptitude to reach new "altitudes". The journey to live the dream has began and we quite rightfully call the 3rd and final official video, of our first professional photo shoot "The Dream".

Miss Indian International 2012 - The Smiles
To Some This Photo Shoot Is Already A Lifetime Experience - Here Are The Ladies.
Most thought is was going to be a conventional pageant photo shoot session, but it turned out to be better than they thought. All were told to come without any make-up, but some took no heed. However, they were quick to remove their make-up. Fortunately, they were also equipped with their own make-up remover. With all the ladies dolled up, our shutter bugs were eager to get clicking. With all the girls in their "uniform", white top and blue denim jeans, it was not difficult to match the background with their outfit. Simplicity was the buzz word and we knew it was difficult to go wrong with simplicity. Especially so for first timers.
After the make-over, each lady came out wearing a fresh look and hairstyle. Feeling zesty and transformed. We wanted the shots to be as original and raw as possible. Hence, no effort has been made to edit or polish any photograph. Afterall, this is only the beginning of a fairly long journey. It was clear to the team that once the confidence starts to build, the desired look will reveal itself. Miss Indian International 2012 is about challenging the abilities of each lady to go beyond the norm, to bring out the best in them without losing focus on the original slogan which illustrates the pageant's concept of timeless beauty......inner beauty.
From the word go, a brief brilliant flood of light took control of everyone's attention as it did the Bayview Room. We were ready to guide, coach and cajole in order to get that one expression captured on camera at each stage. Indoor shoot was nervy indeed, but when it came to the outdoors, fun and frolic really started and their cheekiness began to unfold. All in good spirit even when the weather turned on us all.
The mission for the day was to ensure everyone had their head, full body and action photo shots. As this was a first, we did not expect too much but we were trying to create the look we were trying to get. That said, we know it will take more sessions to capture the personality we desire from each contestant. It will only get better.
If there was one feature we managed to capture, it has to be their smile. Hence the video is aptly titled "The Smile".

It was showtime!! Miss Indian International 2012 journey began with a photo & video shoot at Singapore Flyer. The girls were thrilled, excited and joyful. After the auditions at Pan Pacific Orchard on 10th Dec 2011, the first batch of girls were selected. Those successful were contacted. Some were expecting it, others could not believe they were selected, resulting in screams of joy. To our surprise, some parents called us back, offering their appreciation for giving their daughter an opportunity. These contestants started posting messages online almost immediately. Congratulatory messages and words of encouragement started to pop-up on various social media sites.
To the organising team, the challenge was to make the photo and video shoot scheduled for the 14 Dec [4 days after the auditions] equally, if not more, exhilarating. The idea was to do a photo shoot soon after announcing the result, to capture the excitement in all the girls. Sure enough, we did. The joy in the girls was very evident when they started to gather at the Bayview Room, Singapore Flyer. Their faces glowing with excitement but the mood was one of a mix of anxiety, uncertainty and even apprehension. Many were trying to hide it but it was all too obvious. Guidance was key. Most of the girls meeting for the first time. After the pleasantries and a short orientation, the make over started. The make up team, lead by Sarah Chaudhry, got into action. When the girls took their seat for the makeover, the team transformed them and styled their hair, ready for the photo shoot. Soon, Billy and Julian, the photographers, starting snapping away. The heavy downpour did place a damper on the plans, but not the spirit. Hence, the photo shoot did go on, after a few adjustments to the original plan. Each girl given a touch up and make-up artist consulted before each shot was taken. It was all too professional for the young beauties but they loved it all, as much as we did. The comments on their respective profile and fan page are evident of their excitement.
The first photo shoot has been made into a three part video. First of which is entitled "The Make Over"
We could not thank the people at Singapore Flyer and Flight Experience enough for their support and sponsorship.
This is going to be an enriching experience, indeed !!

‘There’s more to Indian beauties than just a pretty face’
Tanya Datta | Nov 21, 2011, 12.00AM IST
...says Hasleen Kaur, PFMI Earth 2011, just before her departure for the Miss Earth pageant
Hasleen Kaur wants to "instill" India in everything she does at the upcoming Miss Earth 2011 pageant on December 3 in Manila, the capital city of Philippines. With 90 countries participating, how does this Pantaloons FeminaMiss India Earth 2011 plan to stand apart fromthe rest of the contestants? "I'm going to show what I have learnt at every step and talk about India's sensitivity towards environmental issues today. A lot of seriousness and a bit of mycharm should do the work for me!" says Hasleen. She has backed many noble causes like fundraising for the Navjyoti India Foundation, Times Green Initiatives like the Earth Care Awards where she planted 500 trees, Green Ganesha (educating the youth about safer ways to celebrate festivals) and plantation drives at the Bhatti Mines in Delhi, which are being taken care of by our Territorial Army's eco battalion.
Hasleen feels she has done her bit by going to the grass root level in a short span of time and is positive that her work seems to be in sync with the pageant's theme - Smile for Earth, for All. Hasleen is now looking forward to the pageant having really worked hard towards it. Having been trained by the best in the industry she feels she has developed as a person and can face the international stage with more confidence. "My team has done an excellent job and I can feel the change within myself. I have learnt to tackle the media, I feel more confident about being vocal about my ideas. My fitness level is at an all time high and I feel all this is a step towards the crown." Nicole Faria, Miss Earth 2010, was the first Indian to have won the international title. With Hasleen representing the country, there are a lot of expectations from her, "Pressure will always be there. I am going with the intention of winning the crown. By winning the crown last year, Nicole reinstated that Indian beauties are intelligent and there is more to us than just a pretty face,"asserts the leggy lass.
Indian beauty slums her way to immortality
MARK NAGLAZAS,
The West Australian
November 22, 2011, 12:47pm
The catwalk has been a launching pad for many stellar careers in the movies, including Andie MacDowell, Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry and Elizabeth Hurley (perhaps we'll leave the star of Bedazzled and My Favourite Martian off the list).
However, it's doubtful than any of these regal women, even Oscar winner Theron, has had such an auspicious start in movies as Indian star Freida Pinto, below.
Pinto's first film was Danny Boyle's art-house blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire, which won eight Academy Awards in 2008 (including best picture) and earned her a Screen Actors Guild award for being part of the ensemble cast.
Her next film was a smallish but significant part in Woody Allen's You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, followed by work with two more leading auteurs, Julian Schnabel (Miral), and Michael Winterbottom (Trishna).
And if it's not enough to be an art-movie "It" girl, Pinto is now a target for Hollywood, playing James Franco's love interest in the critically and commercially acclaimed blockbuster Rise of the Planet of the Apes and, released this week, the 300-style CGI ancient-world fantasy Immortals.
"When you line them all up like that, it does look like an amazing run," says the 27-year-old Mumbai-born English literature graduate — the beautifully spoken Pinto sounds like she's read her Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy.
The early success with Slumdog, together with being routinely ranked high on the world's most beautiful people lists is the reason why Pinto has the pick of roles, from Oscar bait to Hollywood blockbuster fantasies. And diversity is exactly what she craves.
"I don't want to be stereotyped as one kind of actress," Pinto says. "That's the beauty of this profession. Every job lands me in a new world and I want to make the most of that by making as many different movies as possible."
Pinto's taste for cinematic adventures is more than satisfied by Immortals, a hyper-stylised comic-book version of the story of the heavenly reject Theseus (played by Superman-in-waiting Henry Cavill) and his struggle to again sit among the gods. Pinto plays the virgin oracle princess, Phaedra.
"I come from a country with a very strong living mythology. Every Sunday we would read stories from the Mahabharata. So even though Immortals is from another tradition — both Greek and Hollywood — it reminds me of the stories I heard in my childhood."
While Pinto is a fast-rising star in international cinema she is little known in her homeland, where she is outranked by a "bazillion" equally gorgeous Bollywood stars.
"In India I can maintain an extremely low profile because of the career path I have chosen or has been chosen for me. It's nice. I can have my normal days and I can have my days full of frenzy."
Can she see herself doing a full-blown Bollywood movie and become an all-singing, all-dancing star? "No, because that would take a lot of courage. But I never say never. You never know when you will be asked to do what you fear the most."

Indian Beauties Who Won International Beauty Pageants

Indian Beauties Who Won International Beauty Pageants
TUESDAY, 13 SEPTEMBER 2011 17:49 NAMRATA NONGPIUR
India’s official entrant to the Miss Universe contest, Vasuki Sunkavalli returned home empty-handed having failed to make it even to the Top 16 contestants.
Although we never really expected much out of the lady who stole tweets in order to make herself look intelligent, we have to admit that her dismal performance was a far cry from the country’s previous beauty queens that won the crown. The golden run that India saw with international beauty pageant winners like Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, etc. seems like a bygone era as none of India’s representatives have won any prominent titles since a decade.
While we wait for another Indian beauty to be crowned in an international contest, let us rewind and remember those ladies who did us proud at international beauty pageants.
Reita Faria
Reita Faria was the first Indian woman to ever win an international title since its inception. She was crowned Miss World in the year 1966. She however shunned the glamour world later and gave herself to medicinal practice.
Zeenat Aman
After being crowned the 2nd runners up at the Miss India contest, Zeenat Aman went on to win the Miss Asia Pacific title in 1970, again being the first Indian to do so. Post her win she joined Bollywood and totally changed the face of the Indian woman in Hindi cinema. She was considered the Original Diva of Bollywod.
Sushmita Sen
In another first for the Indian nation, Sushmita Sen brought home the most coveted crown: that of Miss Universe in the year 1994. She too joined Bollywood, where she is known for her bold and fearless instinct.
Aishwarya Rai
Perhaps the most famous of all Indian beauty queens is Aishwarya Rai. She won the title of Miss World the same year as Sen and there has been no looking back for her since.
Diana Hayden
Diana Hayden brought home the Miss World Title for a third time in 1997. She too joined the Hindi film industry but could not replicate the success of her seniors.
Yukta Mookhey
Yukta Mookhey joined the Indian Miss World brigade in 1999 becoming the fourth one to do so. Her Bollywood career was a miserable one as the few films she acted in bombed at the box-office and she was never able to establish herself as a bankable actress.
Lara Dutta
Lara Dutta became only the second Indian woman to win the Miss Universe pageant, in 2000, after Sushmita Sen. Lara Dutta now, is a successful Bollywood actress and producer and, of course, a mommy-to-be.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra was the last person to win the Miss World crown from India and that was in the same year as Lara Dutta’s win. Today, she is the reigning queen of Bollywood and is considered to be one of the best actresses of her batch.
Here are her Career Highlights.
Dia Mirza
Dia Mirza contributed to the creation of history when she won the Miss Asia Pacific title the very year that Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra won the Miss Universe and Miss World title respectively. It was the only time that a nation had picked up all three major awards in a single year.
Nicole Faria
Nicole Faria is the first Indian to win the Miss Earth pageant since its inception in 2001. She won the crown in December 2010 and is the current holder of the title.
